Four tier ivory cake with lilac and ivory roses, lisianthus, sweet peas, peonies and ruscus

Wedding Cakes/Consultations

  • Cake Innovations offers a complimentary 30-minute Zoom consultation to discuss your wedding cake with Sam.
  • To secure your booking, a £100 non-refundable deposit is required.
  • Before your second, in-depth Zoom meeting (scheduled 3-6 months before your wedding), you will receive a tasting box with five of our most popular flavours.
  • After the consultation, a full cake design will be created and sent for approval.
  • Final payment is due 8 weeks before the wedding. If your wedding is within 8 weeks at the time of booking, full payment is required immediately. Work on your cake will not begin until payment is received, and delays may impact the final design. Failure to pay on time may result in cancellation and loss of your date.
  • Any changes to the design or date must be requested in writing and may incur additional charges.

Cake Design

  • Cake Innovations does not exactly replicate another designer’s work.  Designs will be modified to maintain originality.
  • If an element of the design is impractical, we reserve the right to adjust the design without compromising quality. Minor variations may occur, as all cakes are handcrafted. If major changes are necessary, we will consult with you before proceeding.

Colour Matching

  • We make every effort to match icing, ribbon, flowers, and other decorations, but exact colour matches are not always possible.
  • Cake Innovations’ interpretation of colour matching is final.

Flowers

  • We do not work with fresh flowers unless they are grown for food use and sourced from a reputable supplier.

Cake Toppers

  • Bespoke toppers can be added up to 8 weeks before the wedding at an additional cost. Changes to the cake design to accommodate a topper may result in extra charges.
  • If you purchase a topper from another supplier, we will provide cake size details, but you must consult with us to ensure its weight is suitable.
  • We are not liable for customer-placed toppers or those from other suppliers that do not fit.
  • Do not insert foreign objects into your cake.

Allergies & Special Dietary Requirements

  • Inform us during your consultation of any allergies or dietary requirements. We offer gluten-free, nut-free, and alcohol-free cakes.
  • Although we take precautions, our kitchen handles nuts and gluten. If allergies are a concern, discuss them before ordering.
  • Traditional fruit cakes include marzipan unless requested otherwise.
  • An allergen information sheet will be provided to you and your venue before the wedding.

Non-Edible Items

  • Cakes may contain dowels, ribbons, wires, and other non-edible supports. These will be listed in your allergen sheet.
  • It is your responsibility to ensure non-edible items are removed before serving.

Photographs

  • We reserve the right to photograph your cake for use on our website, social media, and portfolio.
  • If possible, we request your professional photographer’s details so we can feature their images (with credit).

Delivery & Set-Up

  • Delivery fees are based on mileage and time.
  • If we deliver your cake to a venue, you must provide full venue details and a contact person. If placed near a window, we may request it be moved, especially in warm weather.
  • While we plan for timely delivery, traffic and unforeseen circumstances may cause delays. We will notify the venue if necessary.
  • If you choose to collect your cake, we are not responsible for any damage once it leaves our premises.
  • Transport tiered cakes flat in your car boot. Cakes should never be left in a hot vehicle.
  • We will photograph the cake at the venue before leaving. Any damage after that point is the venue’s responsibility.
  • If cake repairs are required at the venue, an emergency call-out fee of £100 plus materials will apply. Additional time will be charged at £50 per hour.

Cancellations & Postponements

  • Deposits are non-refundable.
  • If you cancel after the 8-week final payment deadline, the full payment is non-refundable.
  • You may reschedule within 12 months at no extra charge, but price increases may apply.
  • If we are unavailable on your new date, your deposit will not be refunded.
  • If a global pandemic or government restrictions prevent weddings, we will accommodate one date change at no cost. If you cancel despite weddings being permitted, our standard cancellation terms apply.

Stand & Knife Hire

  • Cake stand hire: £35 per weekend. Knife hire: £25 per weekend.
  • A £100 refundable deposit per stand and £50 per knife are required.
  • Stands/knives must be returned clean. A £20 cleaning fee applies to unclean returns.
  • Damage or loss results in forfeiture of the deposit.
  • If we collect the stand/knife from the venue, a mileage and time-based collection fee applies.
  • If using a third-party stand, we are not responsible for damage. If we deem a stand unsuitable, we will place the cake directly on the table.

Complaints & Liability

  • If you have a complaint, do not eat the cake. Retain it for our inspection.
  • Complaints must be made within 24 hours of the event.
  • If the cake has been partially eaten (beyond a couple of bites), we cannot process complaints.
  • Refunds are at our discretion.
  • Public complaints on social media will not be addressed. Defamatory comments may result in legal action.
